Qualified as a dental surgeon and worked in General Dental Practice for ten years before training as a solicitor.  He has established a specialist practice in dento-legal matters covering a wide range of legal issues relevant to dentistry as well as offering specialised advice and general help in care related matters. Qualified in 1972 BDS (Manchester ) and worked in general dental practice before joining the Department of Health in 1986 as a Dental Reference Officer, promoted to Senior Dental Officer in 1996, currently managing 20 DRO's in South West and South East England

 

 

 

 

 

 

Founding Committee - May 1999

President – David Corless Smith 
Graduated in dentistry from Liverpool University in 1988. General Dental Practice until 1998, part time since 1991. Called to the Bar 1993. LLM at UCL in 1994. Practised at the Bar for a number of years and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in 1997.

 

Chairman – Christopher Dean 
Graduated in dentistry from Bristol University in 1985 and has been in General Dental Practice since that time. He has a law degree and also an MA in Medical Ethics and Law from Kings College London. Christopher is a member of Gray’s Inn and was called to the Bar in 1999.  

 

Secretary – Greg Waldron 
Graduated in dentistry from Newcastle University in 1986 and was in General Dental Practice until 1996. He qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and practised with both defendant, and claimant, healthcare solicitors firms before joining the St Paul Healthcare Department in April 1999.  

 

Treasurer - Helen Kaney 
Graduated in Dentistry from Glasgow University in 1987 and worked in NHS General Dental Practice until December 1998. In 1997 she obtained a law degree from Strathclyde University. Became dento-legal adviser with St Paul Healthcare in April 1999.
